Joyce E. Stephens, 87, of Durand, Wis., died Thursday, June 2, 2005, at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen, Wis.

Joyce was born May 15, 1918, in Starbuck, Minn., to Elmer and Agnes (Billehus) Erickson. She graduated from the Minnesota School of Business. She married Mason Stephens on August 18, 1942, in Starbuck. Mason died in 1984. She worked as a bookkeeper and legal secretary for many years.

Joyce is survived by two daughters, Beth (Michael) Martin of Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., and Joele (Dan) Klein of Mondovi, Wis.; four grandchildren, Christopher and Andrew Martin of Eau Claire, Eric Klein of Eau Claire and Jamie (fiancee John Kane) Klein of Mondovi; other relatives and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mason; one granddaughter, Sarah Kathleen Martin; two sisters, Eunice Erickson and Margorie Hamouda.

A gathering to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held on Monday, June 6, 2005, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Golden Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. Interment will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Starbuck at a later date.
