Zawacki, Joseph Edward (1 Sept. 1923 - 25 Feb. 2004)

WITHEE - Joseph Edward Zawacki, 80, of Withee died Feb. 25, 2004, at Our Lady of Victory Hospital in Stanley.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Thorp Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral chapel.

He was born Sept. 1, 1923, on the home farm in the town of Hixon to Stanley and Helen (Stortecky) Zawacki. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Swiniarski on Aug. 25, 1945, at St. Hedwig's Catholic Church in Thorp. Joe was employed at B&R Sawmill as a sawyer until his retirement in the late 1980s.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Zawacki of Withee; his children, Patricia (Frank) Siudak, Lublin, Joanne (Ken) Hodowanic, Chippewa Falls, Virginia (Kyle) Brody, Chippewa Falls, and Robert (Brenda) Zawacki, Eau Claire; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Frank (Ann) Zawacki, Rockford, Ill.; and two sisters, Jeanette (Russ) Johnson, Marshfield, and Julianne Dorsch, Maineville, Ohio.
