Gronek, Marie (3 JUL 1858 - 24 JAN 1940)

Mrs. Marie Gronek (nee Marie Pietrzak), 81 years of age, died at the home of her son Stanley in the town of Hixon (Clark Co., Wis.), on Wednesday morning, Jan. 24th, death being caused by old age infirmities.

The deceased was born in Poland on July 3, 1858. She came to America with her husband and family in 1888, residing for twelve years in Philadelphia before coming to the vicinity of Withee where she has resided for the past forty years on a farm. She was a member of the St. Hedwig’s Church parish and also of the Rosary Society.

She was united in marriage to Stanley Gronek in Poland in Sept. 1874. Surviving are four daughters and one son: Mrs. Francis Pachowski, Withee; Minnie Gronek, Mrs. Rose Piszewski and Mrs. Marie Adamczyk of Chicago, and Stanley Gronek of Withee; also two brothers, Frank Pietrzak of Withee and Albert Pietrzak of Chicago, 20 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. Her husband died in 1936.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Thomas Adamiak at St. Hedwig’s Church on Saturday morning at ten o’clock with interment following in the nearby cemetery.
