For a great read on the Mormon millers in Wisconsin on Black River from 1841 to 1845, get a copy of Melvin C. Johnson's Polygamy On The Pedernales. He has a chapter and a half on the Wightites in Wisconsin that is by far the best there is in all of history writing on the issue of this thread. The paperback, through Amazon, is priced at $21.95. The book was a Pettit-Smith Best Book award winner in 2006.
