Bialkowski, Alex (1888? - 21 June 1940)
Alex Bialkowski, age 52, of Reseburg township, committed suicide at the Clark county jail Friday by severing a jugular vein and an artery in his left wrist with the aid of the spring of his cot.
Bialkowski, who has been married but was separated from his wife, began a 30-day jail sentence imposed by Justice Lee Snyder of Thorp as a penalty for drunkenness.
Sheriff’s officers said that another prisoner had been with him until 11:30 a.m. when taken before a court commissioner for a hearing. Twenty minutes later, when Bialkowski’s noon meal was brought to him, he was found dead between the cell blocks of the jail.
Coroner P. C. Ludovic said the man was known to have made previous attempts at suicide.
