Evelyn Stange

Evelyn Stange, 97, Applegate Terrace, Wausau, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Wausau Manor.

Evelyn was a retired elementary school teacher who primarily taught in the D.C. Everest School District.

Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be at noon Saturday at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau, Wis. Burial will be in the Loyal Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.

Helke Funeral Home, Wausau, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Evelyn Stange

Evelyn Stange, 97, of Applegate Terrace passed away Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2007, at Wausau Manor. She was born Sept. 9, 1910, in Loyal, daughter of the late Otto and Martha (Luther) Schwan. She married Albert J. Stange on Aug. 7, 1935, in Winona, Minn. Albert preceded her in death Aug. 7, 1998.

Evelyn was a graduate of Loyal High School and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Retiring in 1971, she taught elementary education for 33 years with the last 24 years for the D.C. Everest School District. Since 1947, Evelyn was a member of St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau, where she was also a member of the Leah Circle. She belonged to the Wisconsin Retired Educator's Association (WREA) and the Marathon County Retired Educator's Association (MCREA). In their younger years, Evelyn and Albert enjoyed flower gardening, traveling, and square dancing. Survivors include nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Evelyn was further preceded in death by one sister, Esther Olsen; and three brothers, Ernest, Harold and Donald Schwan.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at St. Stephen Lutheran Church, Wausau, Wis. The Rev. Sean Motley will officiate. Burial will be in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church.
