Trunkel, Josephine E. #4 (8 MAR 1915 - 28 SEP 2007)

Josephine E. Trunkel, 92, Willard, passed away at the Neillsville Memorial Home on Friday, Sept. 28, 2007. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Willard. The Rev. Joseph Follmar officiated. Burial followed in Holy Family Catholic Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tony U. Trunkel, Grant E. Trunkel, Gary J. Trunkel Donald E. Trunkel and Matthew Miracle.

Josephine E. Perovsek was born on March 8, 1915, in Willard, to Frank Sr. and Mary (nee Blatnik) Perovsek. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the North Willard School. She married Tony F. Trunkel on July 21, 1937, at Holy Family Catholic Church. They farmed on her family farm in the town of Hendren. Her husband, Tony, passed away on Aug. 12, 1989. She lived her entire life on her family farm and could read and write fluently in Slovenian, serving as translator when needed. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, a lay member of the 3 rd Order of St. Francis of Assisi, a member of the KSKJ Lodge, Willard, a member of the American Slovenian Catholic Union, a past member of the Slovenian Women’s Union #102, and a past member of Holy Family’s Parish Council of Catholic Women. She always looked forward to visits from family members. She was active in many church activities and enjoyed raiding a huge garden, only to give much of it away every fall.

Survivors include two sons, Tony J. (Frederica) Trunkel, Willard/Apache Junction, Ariz., and Frank (Mary) Trunkel, Menomonie; one daughter, Joanne Miracle, Lockport, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Molly Johnson, Mesa Ariz.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Tony; her son-in-law, Al Miracle; one brother, Frank Perovsek Jr.; and two sisters, Rose Salaker and Mary Sensman.

The family prefers memorials be given to the Holy Family Parish Endowment Fund, Willard.

Cuddie Funeral Home, Greenwood, assisted the family with arrangements.
