McPherson, Mary Ellen (10 March 1859 - 11 Nov. 1942)

Mrs. Mary Ellen McPherson (nee Sedgwick) was born in North Adams County, Mass., to Charles W. and Anna (Cook) Sedgwick on the tenth day of March, 1859. She was 83 years, eight months and a day old.

She came to Plattesville, Wis., with her parents when she was six years of age. They lived there for one year before coming to the town of Grant, Clark County, her parents settling on the land which now is owend by Alert Walter.

In 1880, she was married to Frank McPherson, who had taken up a homestead in the town of Washburn at the age of 21. To this farm which Mr. McPherson had equipped with crude log buildings the young groom took his bride and it was here that Mr. Pherson lived ruing the balance of his lifetime. He passed away June 26, 1941, at the age of 68 years and one month.

Five children were born to this couple; one son dieing in infancy. Three daughters and a son survive, namely: Mrs. Thomas Heasett, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. George Struebing, Melrose Park, Ill.; Olive McPherson, who resides in California and Milton McPherson, Portland, Ore. Also surviving are six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
