Stroota, Margaret (26 Oct. 1863 - Oct. 1940)
Mrs. Margaret Stroota of Dorchester, Wis., who lived in Colby for several years, died at the age of 76 years at St. Mary’s hospital at Wausau, where she had been a patient for a week. Her death followed a three weeks’ illness. Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Mary’s Catholic church in Marathon and burial was made in the Colby cemetery.
Mrs. Stroota was born in Germany on October 26th, 1863, and came to the United States as a girl of 17. She was married in Sheboygan county in 1884 to Albert Stroota. The couple moved to the town of Holton after their marriage and remained there until 1919 when they opened the hardware store in Marathon which is now operated by their son, Oscar Stroota. They also lived several years in Colby where Mr. Stroota died in 1931. Shortly after his death Mrs. Stroota moved to Dorchester, Wis.
Surviving are his four children: Oscar Stroota of Marathon, Wis., Clara Decker, of Dorchester, Wis., Mrs. Chas. Banghart and Miss Rosalind Stroota of Chicago, Ill.
