Mrs. Ida Buss, age 76, passed away at her farm home two miles southwest of the village on Sunday evening, Sept. 17, 1939, after a long illness.
She was born in Germany April 1, 1863, and came to America in 1888. She was married in Milwaukee on Sept. 17, 1889, to William Buss of Green Grove (Clark Co., Wis.). They settled on their present farm and lived there just 50 years. Mr. Buss passed away in May 1929.
She leaves to mourn, five sons and one daughter, George and Fred of Abbotsford, Wis., Herbert, Franklin and Martha at home, and William who has been at a Chicago hospital since last April suffering from arthritis and who is unable to be home.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon from the home to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at Green Grove. Rev. M.C. Goetsch will officiate and burial will be made in the parish cemetery. There are three grandchildren.
The deceased was a kind, hardworking mother of the pioneer type, who endured many of the hardships of the early days. She was a life long member of the Lutheran church and a charter member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Ladies Aid of Green Grove.
