Rossman, Mary Esther (March 14, 1914 - September 29, 2007)
Mary E. Rossman, age 93, of Thorp, died at our Lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley, on Saturday, September, 29, 2007.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2007, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, in Thorp. Rev. Daniel Welch and Rev. Donald Sprengler officiated and burial followed in East Thorp Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mike LaBelle, Brian Weeks, Tim Chatman, Larry Gostomski, Dustin Rossman and Bob Buss. Visitation was held at Thorp Funeral Home on Monday, October 1, 2007, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., and at church on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.
Mary Esther Buss was born on March 14, 1914, in the Town of Reseburg, Clark County, Wisconsin, to Herman and Mary (Zimmer) Buss. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Thorp area. After completing her education, Mary worked at housekeeping in Thorp and Chippewa Falls. She was united in marriage to Reuben Rossman on June 27, 1942 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Thorp. They farmed on her husband’s home farm until retiring in 1974, at which time they moved into Thorp. Her husband, Reuben, died on February 16, 1998. Mary continued to reside at home until moving to Morgan Plaza in November of 2000.
She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she was very active in Ruth Circle, youth groups and prayer groups. Mary was also a member of the Friendly Homemakers and enjoyed cooking, baking, spending time with her family, and playing cards.
She is survived by her children: Harvey (Judy) Rossman of Thorp, Linda Taft of Pleasant Prairie, WI, and Jerome (Becky) Rossman of Marshfield; seven grandchildren: Mike (Cindy) LaBelle, Lynn (Brian) Weeks, Derek Fredrickson, J. C. Oldham, Dustin Rossman, Sherry (Tim) Chatman, and Tamara (Michael) Grozik; 12 great-grandchildren: Jessica, Kendra, Katie, Bryttany, Tye, Cody, Brendan, Ashley, Dylan, Luke, Ryan, And Devin; one great-great-granddaughter, Audrina; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reuben; one daughter, Judith Zuelke-Pribbenow; one son-in-law, Fred Zuelke; one grandson, Bryan Rossman; three brothers: Robert Buss, Bill Roesler, and Hugo Roesler; and four sisters: Gertrude Barth, Hilma Ramberg, Orlena Sprengler, and Clara Knutson.
