Hillert, Dora (27 Dec. 1920 - October 16, 2007)

Dora Hillert, age 86, Granton, Wisconsin, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007, at the Neillsville Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2007, at the Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church prior to the service.

The Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting the family with arrangements.

Dora Hillert, age 86, of Granton, died October 16, 2007, at Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center, Neillsville, Wis.

Dora was born December 27, 1920, in Ellerslie, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Rudolph and Alvina (Timm) Bohn. She came to the United States in 1923 and became a U. S. citizen in 1943. She received her education at Green Valley, WI. Dora was married to Kenneth Arndt on May 27, 1939 in Kellner, where they farmed. Dora was employed at Normington’s Dry Cleaners in Wisconsin Rapids. Kenneth died in 1968. Dora then married Martin Hillert on June 5, 1971 at Kellner. They farmed at Granton until retirement. Dora resided at Memorial Home since February of 2003.

Dora was a member of Zion American Lutheran Church, ELCA Granton. She was also a member of Zion’s Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Deutscher Club and Granton Sr. Citizens.

She is survived by her husband, Martin; four stepsons, David (Carol) Hillert, Granton; Donald (Judy) Hillert, of Mondovi; John (Gayle) Hillert, of Stevens Point; Martin, Jr. (June) Hillert, of Friendship; 12 step grandchildren; 13 step great-grand-children; two sisters, Alice (William) Knuth, of Wisconsin Rapids, and Adina Bucket, of Dandridge, TN; one brother-in-law, Alton Schmidtke, of Neillsville; two sisters-in-law, Ida Hinkelmann, of Byron, Il, and Lydia Hemersbach, of Granton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Arndt; two brothers, Helmuth and Walter; and three sisters, Hertha, Hilda and Esther.

Funeral services were held on Friday, October 19, 2007, at Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. Pastor Keith Lueneburg officiated. Burial was at St. John’s Cemetery, Kellner, WI.

Pallbearers were Ronald, Tom and Donald Bohn; Richard and Robert Rowe; and Donald Hillert.

Buchanan Funeral Home, of Neillsville, assisted the family with arrangements.
