Johnson, Emma J. (23 SEP 1864 - 17 FEB 1940)

Emma Johanna Svenson was born in Ostergotland, Sweden, on Sept. 23, 1864, and came to this country in 1894. She was united in marriage to Charles O. Johnson on May 8, 1901, at Chicago. To this union were born two children, Robert of Owen, and Katherine, Mrs. Leslie Warner of Minneapolis.

In 1909 they came to Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), which has since been her home. She passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 1940, at 10:30 a.m. at the age of 75 years, 4 months, and 25 days.

She spent most of her life on the farm near Owen, Wisconsin. Hers was a home of constant, never tiring hospitality, where one was always welcome. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, a grand person in every walk of life, one whose personality portrayed her goodness and she was beloved by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, two children, two brothers and one sister in Sweden, one sister in California, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Griebenow-Weirich Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 20, Rev. H.H. Rostad officiating. Rev. and Mrs. Rostad sang two duets and Mrs. Rostand sang a solo "No Burdens Yonder," accompanied by Bernice Wendt at the piano.
