Strate, Martha (22 MAY 1874 - FEB 1940)
C.M. Anderson of Route 1, Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), returned to his home a week ago Saturday from Velva, N.D., where he had been to attend the funeral services of his sister, Mrs. Martha Strate, who passed away when a heart attack, following a major operation, proved to be fatal to her.
Mrs. Strate had many friends in this community, having visited with them and relatives around here as late as two years ago.
Mrs. Strate (Martha Anderson) was born in Solar, Norway, May 22, 1874, and was 65 years old at the time of her death. She came to America in 1892 and was married to Olaf Strate at Chippewa Falls.
Surviving are nine daughters and one son, they are: Mrs. Anton Lokken, Velva, N.D.; Mrs. Anton Aasen, Minot, N.D.; Mrs. Harold Bauer, Max; Miss Nora Strate, Glendive, Mont; Mrs. Joseph Lydon, Grand Forks; Mrs. Raymond Patterson, Donnybrook, N.D.; Mrs. Earl Byers, Velva, N.D.; Mrs. George Hanna, Washington; Mrs. james Lydon, Minot, N.D.; Arnold Strate of Velva and C.M. Anderson of Owen, Wisconsin.
Deep regret is felt at the passing of this good woman. The Strate place is one of the oldest landmarks in Velva and a hospitable home where friends and neighbors always met.
