Re: Property:
Unity, WI--Romeo Cheese Factory
Contact: Bob Carlson
I went to Romeo School for eight years from 1945 to 1953. The school closed that year and the building was later moved to the tavern property in Unity, Wis. The school was located between the railroad and Hwy 13, about 1/4 to 1/2 mile north of Hwy 153. I remember a pull down map in the school which showed the "towns" of Romeo and Hoffman in the vicinity of the school. The Romeo alumni had reunion in about 2003, there was a long write up in the Marshfield New Herald. Lloyd Rinquest was the main organizer, I am not sure if he is still living. The story stated that the building was once on the site of what in now the Brighton Township Hall, 1/2 mile south and 1 mile east of the present location. Our farm was 1/4 mile north of the town hall, and my birthplace. Bob Carlson Fairbanks, Alaska
