Hoganson, Louis (185 7 -30 Dec. 1942)

Funeral services were held at two p.m. Sunday to the memory of Louis Hoganson, who passed away at the Marshfield hospital Dec. 30th, at the age of 85, the Rev. O. Asp of the Neillsville Methodist church, officiated.

Mr. Hoganson was born in Oslo, Norway, in 1857. He was educated in the grammar schools in his native country, living there until he had attained the age of 21. His marriage took place in Norway. He followed the carpenter’s trade, living most of his life in Clark County.

Mr. and Mrs. Hoganson were the parents of eight children, four of whom, Lura, Hans, Oscar Seigval and Bessie, preceded their parents in death. Mrs. Hoganson passed away in 1917. The living children are Mrs. Christina Wagoner and Mrs. Jennie Jostad, Portland, Oregon; John Hoganson, California and Albert Hoganson, San Francisco, Cal.

In 1923, Mr. Hoganson was again married, his second wife being the former Ella Gonschorek. Three children were born to this union, Bennie, Oscar and Alvin, all residing in Wausau, Wis. Mrs. Hoganson and children survive.

The departed was instrumental in the erection of the Norwegian Lutheran Church in this city, being one of the numbers who donated their services at the time the building was erected. He led the choir, taught in the Sunday school and otherwise supported the organization during its life in this community.
