Thompson, Edith (15 MAY 1940)
Word has been received of the marriage of Fred Earl, formerly of Owen (Clark Co., Wis.), to Mrs. Edith Thompson of Abbotsford on Wednesday, May 15, 1940.
Mr. Earl, a resident of this city for many years, will make his home from now on at Abbotsford, Wis. He recently retired as a rural mail carrier out of the Owen Post Office.
The couple enjoyed a trip through the southern section of the state and Iowa. They visited with Mrs. Earl’s nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Spurney at Dubuque, Ia., before returning home Friday.
Mr. Earl’s friends in Owen extend to him and his bride their best wishes for a long happy wedded life.

Edith Thompson, widow of John B. Thompson, was the daughter of Frederick and Wilhelmina "Minna" Doernenburg of Abbotsford, Wis. According to the Cemetery index, she was born February 3, 1882 and died June 1, 1965. Her sisters were Mary Ann Cowen, Ottelia "Tillie" Petska, and Nellie Brooks; her brother was Fred Doernenburg. She outlived them all by 30 years and more. Her 2nd husband, Fred Earl also predeceased her, dying in 1956. Edith is buried in Abbotsford City Cemetery.
