Keefe, Maurice (1864? - 25 MAY 1940)

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon, May 28th, 1940, from the Lenmark Funeral Home for Maurice M. Keefe, 75, a former resident of this city (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.). The Rev. Jess Norenberg read the service and interment was made in the Forest Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Keefe passed away Saturday at the home of his son, Dr. H.M. Keefe at Milwaukee, where he and his wife have been making their home since leaving Owen two years ago.

Mr. Keefe spent the early years of his life at Eau Claire where as a young man he was employed in the lumbering industry, later coming to Owen and working for the John S. Owen Lumber Company. For years he served as camp cook in the northern camps and later as cook at the company’s boarding house here. After the closing of the mill in Owen he and his wife conducted a restaurant business for several years before retiring. After his retirement his health began to fail rapidly. It was then that they moved to Milwaukee and made their home with his son.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Harold, a brother, Frank of Black River Falls, and one sister, Mrs. Lettie Sherman of Madison.

Mr. Keefe had many true and dear friends in this city and vicinity who are sorrowed to hear of his passing away.
