LaStofka, Doris (Marriage - 2 Jan. 1943)

Miss Doris LaStofka, daughter of Mrs. M. LaStofka of Neillsville, was married on January second, 1943, to Corporal John R. L. Thornton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. E. Z. Wallin of the Baptist church, Elkton, Maryland. Corporal Harold F. E. Reimer of New York City attended the couple.

The bride wore a cranberry red dressmaker suit with black accessories and a shoulder corsage of roses.

Mrs. Thornton was graduated from the Neillsville High School and attended the University of Wisconsin and Groves-Barnhart school for secretaries.

Doris is an outstanding young woman. She made the best of her opportunities, though and easier way might have been open to her. She remained loyal to her parents at all times. After the death of her father last April she was again brought to a test and decided upon the harder way. She sacrificed a lovely position to be at home to comfort and assist her mother.

She held positions with the Towel Advertising Agency and with the First National Bank at Madison, being employed at the present time in secretarial work in the army ordnance department.

Corporal Thornton attended the University of Wisconsin where he was affiliated with Thea Delta Chi. He met his bride in Madison where he was employed until he entered the army service last August. He is stationed at the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. The couple will live at 508 Bel Air Avenue W., Aberdeen, Maryland, for the present.
