Wiersig, Ella Esther (Marriage - 9 July 1942)
Miss Ella Esther Wiersig, daughter of Ewald R. Wiersig of Colby, Wis., and Elmer Emil Wellman, son of William F. Wellman of Marshfield, were united in marriage at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Colby last Thursday afternoon at 3:00 o’clock, Rev. O. H. Hoffmann officiating at the marriage ceremony.
The bride chose for her wedding a floor-length gown of white satin, worn with fingertip veil held in place with a coronet. Her gold locket was a gift of the groom and her bouquet consisted of roses and baby breath.
Miss Hilda Wiersig, who was maid of honor, was attired in a blue organdy gown with a matching polk bonnet. Mrs. Herbert Wellman was bridesmaid and she wore pink organza with a matching polk bonnet. Each wore a gold locket, a gift of the bride, and each had a shoulder bouquet of mixed flowers.
Richard Kuse was best man and the groom was also attended by Herbert Wellman.
During the ceremony Miss Eileen Kobs sang "Thine Forever, God of Love." After the wedding a supper was served at 4:00 o’clock at the Hotel Robinson. Later a reception was held for 35 guests at the bride’s home in the town of Hull, Wood Co., Wis. The home was nicely decorated in blue, pink and white streamers for the occasion.
Before her marriage, the bride was employed at the Weinbrenner shoe plant at Marshfield. The groom is employed by the Roddis Lumber and Veneer Co. Mr. and Mrs. Wellman made a wedding trip to Fond du Lac.
Among the out of town guests at the wedding were the following: Mrs. Harvey Koch and son of Minocqua, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Wellman, Mrs. Charles Groth, Harold and Harvey Groth, William Wellman and Rivhard Kuse of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Griepentrog and children, Caroline, Eugene and Donald, of Spencer, Walter Wellman, daughter, Ione, and son, Vernon, of Abbotsford, Wis., Rev. and Mrs. O. H. Hoffmann and son, Mr. and Mrs. Art Schmitt and sons, Ronald and Neal, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiersig, son, Robert, and daughter, Patricia, Ewald Wiersig and daughter, Hilda and Olga, and son, Reinhardt, and Julius Wiersig, all of Colby, Wis.
