Durbin, George E. (20 AUG 1866 - 29 SEP 1940)
Final rites for George Edward Durbin, 74 years, 1 month and 9 days of age, were conducted by Rev. J.H. Rostad at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1, from the Griebenow Funeral Parlor.
Mr. Durbin passed away at his farm just north of the village of Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.) on Sunday, Sept. 29, 1940, suffering from a complication of ailments.
George Edward Durbin was born in Powshiek Co., Ia., on Aug. 20, 1866. On Nov. 26, 1898, he was united in wedlock to his wife, the former Ernestina Wilhelmina Schalser at Keswick, Ia. For the past nine years Mr. Durbin and family have been residents of this community, the past four years having resided on the farm one and one-half miles north of Curtiss, Wis.
His passing is mourned by his wife, and eight children, two daughters, Mrs. Albert Ball (Orpha) of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Felix Poznanski (Edna) of Owen; and six sons, Alfred of Owen, Elmer, Homer, Howard, Glenwood and Ray, all of Curtiss, Wis. Three daughters and one son have preceded him in death.
