Laverna Ertl
Laverna Ertl, 89, of Colby, Wis., formerly of Unity, died at her home Nov. 16, 2007.
A celebration of Laverna's life will begin with friends and family visiting and reminiscing at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at St. John's Lutheran Church, north of Spencer, Wis. At 11 a.m., the celebration services will commence with the Rev. Rebekah Tarras officiating. The celebration of her life will conclude with burial at West Spencer Cemetery.
Maurina/Community Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Laverna was born Aug. 23, 1918, in the town of Brighton, Marathon County, to Robert and Amanda (Friemund) Bruesewitz. She married Henry "Hank" Ertl on Nov. 28, 1936, at St. John's Lutheran Church north of Spencer, Wis. She helped her husband with his carpentry work, was a homemaker and was the family cookie and chili maker.
She is survived by one brother, Elroy "Bud" (Arlene) Bruesewitz, of Marshfield, and by her nieces and nephews.
Laverna was preceded in death by her parents, husband Henry, brother Delmar Bruesewitz and a sister, Alvera Zygarlicki.
