Amelia Halenka
Amelia Halenka, 79, of Thorp, formerly of Milwaukee, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Oakbrook Health and Rehab in Thorp.
She was born Jan. 4, 1928, in Taylor County. Amelia graduated from Gilman High School. She married Joseph Halenka on Nov. 5, 1949. She worked as a food service manager for Milwaukee Public Schools, owned and operated Millie's Ceramics and volunteered at the Thorp Catholic School library. She loved her bowling team, and made quilts for each of her grandchildren.
Amelia is survived by her children, Sandra (James) Bitenc, Brian (Cindy), Dennis, Peggy and Joseph L. Jr. (Roxanne); many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Edward (Rosie) Abramowicz; sister, Ann Nelson; sisters-in-law, Esther Abramowicz, Margie Abramowicz and Mary (Halenka) Trepanier; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 26, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Thorp. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday at the church, where there will be a 10 a.m. rosary.
Interment will be in Lublin.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin is serving the family.
