Roy and Helen Hartl - 50th wedding anniversary Roy and Helen Hartl of Loyal celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, at the Auburndale Village Park. The surprise party was hosted by their daughters, and Helen’s brothers and sisters.
The couple were married on Wednesday, Oct. 5, 1955, at St. Kilian’s Catholic Church in Blenker, with the Rev. Oberwinder officiating. Bridal attendants were Violet (Smazal) Hartl (deceased), Fran (Smazal) Schill. Flower girl was Beverly (Smazal) Rawlings. Groomsmen were Walter Hartl and Roger Hartl. Ring-bearer was Frank Smazal Jr.
Roy was born June 30, 1933, in Rudolph, to Louis and Bessie (Herman) Hartl. He attended Unity Grade School. He was employed at Mike’s Tire, Wick Building Systems, and Land O’Lakes in Spencer, retiring on Dec. 30, 1998. Helen was born April 17, 1937, to Frank and Mayme (Schmutzer) Smazal, in Milladore. Helen attended Blenker grade school and is a 1955 graduate of Auburndale High School. She worked at Loyal Foods for 17 years and Loyal Drug for 18 years, retiring in 1999.
They have two daughters, Shelly (Randy) Domine and Jody Hartl, and five living grandchildren.
