Mrs. Kemp Writes of the sickness of Doug. M’Phail
Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Sturdevant received a card from Mrs. Elva Kemp, Los Angeles, Cal., this week upon which she stated that her grandson, Douglas McPhail, has been in the Santa Barbara, Calif., army hospital for six weeks, further stating that she and her daughter, the mother of Douglas, had visited him at the hospital each week.
Douglas McPhail and his wife, Betty Jane, are movie stars, singing in plays with such great stars as Jeannette Mac Donald and Nelson Eddy. They have been seen and heard on the screen at the local theater.
Mrs. Kemp is the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. B. F. French, prominent early day residents of Neillsville, and a sister of Mesdames Nettie Youmans, Dr. Viola (French) DeLane, Mrs. Irene Oakley and Ed. and Dr. John R. French, all residing in the west.
