Washburn - by Mrs. Ralph Short
Our local Red Cross officers met at the Ralph Short home the latter part of the week to figure up the results of the war fund drive. The result was $105 from membership and donations. They donated $25 from our local Red Cross chapter funds, making a total of $130. Our quota was $127.
Mr. and Mrs. Myron Wilding were Sunday visitors at the Jess Wilding home.
Joseph Reinart, who is employed on a farm near Alma Center, visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. Reinart, Sr., and family Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Kuhn spent Sunday at the Ralph Short home.
Mr. and Mrs. B. O. Slagle sold their farm last week to Olson and Vinger. They plan to stay on the farm a short time until renters are found. They expect to visit Mr. Slagle’s father in Oklahoma, their son, Ralph, and wife in California and son, Harold, and family, and also a daughter and family in Iowa before deciding where they will locate permanently.
Mrs. Ralph short will entertain the Ladies’ Aid Thursday, April 22.
Corp. Robert Kuhn, Camp McCoy, spent Sunday with his brother, Bernard, and family.
Sunday school and preaching services were held at the Shortville Church Sunday, Rev. Summers, Eau Claire, conducting services at 11. He also held services Sunday evening and at Sherwood Monday evening.
Quite a large crowd attended the Welcome club meeting at the Walter Trachte home Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Short and family drove to Alma Center Friday night to help her father, R. Payne, celebrate his birthday.
Mary Lou Hagie and Robert Spiegel entertained the measles last week.
Mrs. James West returned home from the Marshfield hospital Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Krause returned to their farm last week after spending the winter at Beloit.
Robert Volz sawed wood Friday and Saturday.
Mr. and Mrs. William Ottow and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Ottow were Neillsville callers Wednesday.
