Asplin, Jessie Elaine (Marriage - 8 May 1943)
The marriage of Miss Jessie Elaine Asplin, Greenwood, Wis., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Asplin, 612 So. Central Street, Marshfield, and Mr. Raymond Ampe, Greenwood, son of Mrs. Frieda Ampe, of that city, was solemnized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Neillsville, on Saturday, May 8th, at 9 a.m., Fr. J. A. Biegler performing the double-ring service.
A reception followed the service at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Scherer, Jr., Greenwood, 75 guests being in attendance. The house decorations were pink, blue and white streamers, white wedding bells and cut flowers.
The bride’s dress of white satin was styled after princess lines, with a long train trimmed with seed pearls. The neck-line was cut sweetheart style. The finger-tip veil fell from a tiara of seed pearls. Her bouquet was made up of roses and sweet peas.
Mrs. George Scherer, Jr., a sister of the bride, acted as maid of honor. She was gowned in a dress of pink chiffon, which lace, and matching picture hat. The bridesmaid, Miss Gladys Mortenson, Chicago, wore a similarly styled dress and a hat in blue. Both wore white gardenia corsages. George Scherer, Jr., attended the groom, Donald Kocher acting as usher.
The bride was graduated from the Neillsville High School in 1942, being salutatorian of her class. She had been employed for some time as bookkeeper at the J. C. Penney Co. store in Neillsville, Wis.
The groom is employed on his mother’s farm. He was graduated from the Greenwood High School in 1937.
Guests from distant places who came for the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Asplin, Durand; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mason and son, Laverne, Detroit, Mich.; Mrs. Kenneth Keach and daughter, Jacqueline, Detroit; Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Ampe and family, Cadott; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ampe and family, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ted Borysiewicz, Wausau and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Worchel, Duluth, Minn.
