Lindow, Louis (18 Sept. 1861 - 15 April 1943)
Louis Lindow, 81, of Chili, passed away at 10:40 p.m. April 15, 1943, at the Marshfield hospital. Mr. Lindow had been ill for 8-1/2 years. Louis Lindow was born to Mr. ad Mrs. Frederick Lindow Sept. 18, 1861, in Fond du Lac, WI. When he was a year old, his parents moved to Calumet County. He attended school there in an old log structure. At the age of 25, he came to Clark County. On the 11th day of November, 1886, he was united in marriage to Mary Luckow. The couple began farming on the place which now is occupied by the youngest son, Edward Lindow, and his family in the town of Fremont. Mrs. Lindow passed away 21 years ago. He was again married on the 30th day of May, 1925, to Mrs. Dora Bosselman of Granton. He is survived by his wife and six children, namely: (Ida) Mrs. Henry Nebel, Chili; George Lindow, Hillsboro, OR; (Sara) Mrs. Ed Leonhard, Milwaukee; Walter Lindow, Chili; (Lily) Mrs. Ed Schlinsog, Granton; and Edward Lindow, Chili, all of the children being of the first marriage. Two children have passed away. There are 17 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and a sister, Emil Lindow, Lynn; John Lindow, Loyal; August Lindow, Chili, and Mrs. Emil Haberlnad, Brillion. Two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 19, at 1:30 from the Lindow home and at two p.m. at the Evangelical church at Chili, the Rev. S.A. Gutknecht officiating. Burial was made in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Luther Lindow, Amos Lindow, Lester Lindow, Raymond Lindow, Russell Roehl, and Marion Lee. Mrs. Warren Beil, Norrine Shlinsog, Miriam Lindow, Audrin Leonhard, Carol Jean Lindow, Lois Leonhard and Ardith Lindow acted as flower girls.
