Crandall, Eugene Webster (6 March 1886 - 7 May 1943)
Eugene Webster Crandall, age 57 years, two months and one day, was born March 6, 1886, at Christie, Wisconsin, the son of Nelson and Catherine Crandall. He passed away at his home in Granton on May 7, 1943.
When a small boy, his parents moved to a farm west of Neillsville, Wisconsin, where he attended grade school and later high school at Neillsville, Wis.
At the age of 16 years he started to work as a messenger boy for the Omaha railway company at Neillsville, Wis. He continued to work for the company as telegrapher and agent at various places. In 1912, he came to Granton where he was depot agent until ill health forced him to retire in 1936, after serving the comp any and the public for 30 years.
Although confined to his bed for the past six years, he continued to take an active interest in community affairs and was a devoted sports fan.
He was married to Vera Beatrice Williams on June 10, 1908, at Neillsville, Wis.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Theodore Thomas of Green Bay, and Douglas Lloyd, who is a pharmacist’s mate in the U. S. Navy, somewhere in the south Pacific; a sister, Mrs. William Wood of Shawano; a brother, Bert, of Salem, Oregon; and one granddaughter, Lynn Marie Crandall, Green Bay.
