Schjoneman, Verna (Marriage - Sept. 9 1943)
Miss Verna Schjoneman of Wisconsin Rapids, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Schjoneman of Unity, became the bride of Robert Kester, fireman first class, U.S.C.G., son of Otto Kester of Wisconsin Rapids, in a ceremony performed in the parsonage of the First Moravian church at Wisconsin Rapids Thursday, Sept. 9th, at 2:30 o’clock, Rev. Westphal officiating.
Both the bride and her attendant, Miss Isabel Olson, wore soldier blue suits and corsages of roses and snapdragons. Marvin Steinke, ship’s cook, second class, attended the groom.
After the ceremony, dinner was served at the home of the groom’s father.
Mrs. Kester will continue to be employed at the LaGrande Beauty Shop at Wisconsin Rapids. Her husband, who has just completed a three month’s course at Hemphill Diesel School at Long Island, N.Y., where he received his present rating, is home on leave. He expects to report in Chicago soon for further orders.
