Dorothy Hazuga

Dorothy C. (Stuttgen) Hazuga, 85, of Stanley passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2006.

She was born on June 15, 1920, in Stanley to the late Servatus and Mary (Dachel) Stuttgen. She married Robert J. Hazuga on October 22, 1941, and lived 30-plus years on the 80-acre dairy farm at the north end of Emery St., and 30-plus years at the corner of 10th Ave. and Franklin St., before moving to Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center in Thorp in 2002.

Dorothy was an enthusiastic participant in Oakbrook activities right up to the end. She was known for her knitted mittens and has donated hundreds of pairs to wintertime help organizations. She was a devout person and never missed her TV Mass. She had a special devotion to her patroness through the years, St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus.

Surviving is her sister, Viola (Stuttgen) Hazuga of Stanley; two daughters, Stella Miller of Flowery Branch, Ga., and Margaret (Steven) Granneman of Lakeville, Minn.; two sons, Jim (Kay) of Pensacola, Fla., and Arnie (Gina) of Norfolk, Va.; grandchildren, Jim Jr., Todd Sr. (Marie), Brian (Jennifer) Niki (Tony) Tucker, Jessie (Greg) Pucket, Amanda (Andy) ElShedia, Jared Miller, Shawn (Julie) Hazuga, Christina (William) Woodrum and Jennifer (Tony) Howe; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brother, Joseph Stuttgen; godparents, Paul Stuttgen and Clara (Dachel) Schmick.

The family would like to thank Oakbrook Health and Rehab Center in Thorp for their loving care and the lively spirit of home life; and thank you to Fr. Keith Apfelbeck for his comforting in time of need.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Plombon Funeral Home in Stanley, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Bob Nelson at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 13, at Holy Family Church in Stanley. Interment will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Stanley.
