Brown, Ransom H. (22 Jan. 1862 - 16 Dec. 1943)
Ransom H. Brown of Unity died at 4:30 o’clock last Thursday afternoon at St. Mary’s Hospital at Madison at the age of 80 years, the result of acute bronchitis. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. B. Ferguson at 2:00 o’clock Sunday afternoon at the Unity Methodist church and burial was made in the Unity cemetery.
Mr. Brown was born in Poy Sippi on Jan. 22, 1862, and was married at Linwood on Dec. 26, 1885, to Alice Hulet who preceded him in death three years ago. After farming in the vicinity of Unity until 1900, Mr. Brown moved to the village of Unity and served as Marathon county surveyor for 40 years and as the county highway commissioner in Marathon county for three years. He was a member of the Odd Fellows.
Surviving are two sons, Neal Brown of Madison and Ransom A. Brown of Minneapolis and four grand children. Preceding him in death were a daughter, Mrs. Clara McMiller; a son, Richard Brown; two brothers and a sister.
