Scheel, Ora F. (30 DEC 1917 - 23 NOV 2007)
Ora F. Scheel, 89, Colby, formerly of Loyal, died at the Colonial Center, Colby, on Friday, Nov. 23, 2007. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., on Monday, Nov. 26, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. The Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiated. Burial followed in the Loyal Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joe Guastella, Jeff Levenhagen, Chad Guastella, Glen Bloom, Donnie Rowley and Jack Nowak.
Ora Frances Stowe was born on Dec. 30, 1917, in the town of Beaver, to Earn and Anna (nee Litka) Stowe. She attended Oak Grove School in the town of Green Grove for eight years. She then attended Riplinger High School, in the town of Unity, for one year, after which she attended Loyal High School, graduating in 1936. She married Gerhardt E. Scheel on Feb. 8, 1938, in Neillsville, Wis. They lived on a farm in the town of Loyal for one year. They then moved to their farm, on Pelsdorf Road, and resided there until 1995. She worked at the Farmer’s Exchange Store, in Loyal, for several years. She and her husband celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1988, at the Loyal American Legion Hall. She joined the Beaver Center Homemakers Club on Nov. 14, 1946, and remained a member until the club retired in 1998. After the death of her husband on Oct. 5, 1995, she moved to a retirement apartment in Colby, where she remained until she became ill on Nov. 2. She loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed embroidering, crossword puzzles, and playing cards.
Survivors include one son, Rodelle (Kathleen) Scheel, Sun Prairie; two granddaughters, Rochelle (Joe) Guastella, Sun Prairie, and Jennifer (Jeff) Levenhagen, Woodbury, Minn.; four great-grandchildren, Chad Guastella, Minneapolis, Minn., Jaci Guastella, Sun Prairie, and Brett and Norah Levenhagen, Woodbury, Minn.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Gary; and one brother, Howard Stowe on Jan. 15, 1996.
Ora will be greatly missed by everyone. We all loved her.
Cuddie Funeral Home, Loyal, assisted the family with arrangements.
