Cook, Ruth Lucille (Marriage - 4 Sept. 1943)
Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Ruth Lucille Cook, of Neillsville and East Orange, New Jersey, to Sgt. William Thomas Stephens, of Camp Davis, North Carolina, which took place Saturday, September 4, at six o’clock. The impressive ring ceremony was performed by Rev. Theodore Friche before the altar at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Washington, D. C.
The bride was lovely in purple woolen dress with which she wore brown accessories. A corsage of purple orchids completed her costume.
The only attendants were Miss Clara Rushing of Pageland, South Carolina, and Edgar Brown of Washington, D. C. Miss Rushing was attired in a beige suit with matching accessories. Her corsage was of red roses.
Mrs. Stephens is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Cook of Neillsville, Wisconsin. For the past several months she has held a responsible position in East Orange, New Jersey.
Sgt. Stephens is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Stephens of Americus, Georgia. At present he is with the Anti-Aircraft Artillery School at Camp David, North Carolina.
After a short wedding trip, Sgt. and Mrs. Stephens will make their home in Wilmington, North Carolina.
