Henchen, Ewald (13 Feb. 1898 - 2 July 1943)
Ewald Henchen, son of Bruno and Amelia, was born in the town of Weston on February 12, 1898.
After completing local schooling he attended the dairy school in Madison and then for a short time followed the trade of cheese maker. He returned, later, to farming and in Globe on November 30, 1921, he was married. This union was blessed with four children: Louis, David, Elaine and Eileen, all of whom live at home.
Mr. Henchen spent most of his life in the Globe community and served as treasurer of the Globe school for 12 years. He had not been well, having examinations in Madison and Marshfield without improving his health. On Friday July 2, he passed away at the age 45 years, 4 months and 16 days.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife and children, his father, Bruno, of Neillsville, three sisters, Clara, a nurse in Ohio; Mrs. John Martins, Neillsville, and Mrs. Joe Terenne of Thorp; three brothers, Arnold of Neillsville, Clarence of Greenwood, and Irvin of Malaka, Minnesota, and a of friends.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 2 p.m. at the Schiller-Terhune Funeral Home, where the body lay in state. The Rev. G. W. Longenecker officiated. Burial took place in the Neillsville Cemetery.
