Eva was born on February 8, 1915 in the Town of Pine Valley, Clark County, WI, the daughter of Herman and Amelia (Riedel) Krause. She received her education at the Wild Rose School and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton, WI. Eva was united in marriage to Arnold Grottke on July 18, 1934. They later divorced; he passed away on July 18, 1979.
Eva worked at the Neillsville Dairy Bar for 11 years starting in 1955. Then in 1966, she worked for Oscar "Dimps" Gluch for four years. After his retirement in 1970, Eva took over the management of the Family Shoe Store and was in business for 10 years retiring in 1980.
Eva enjoyed her vegetable garden each summer along with canning all the vegetables. She sewed beautiful pillows and wall hangings and enjoyed reading, puzzles and walking. Walking was her means of transportation and she loved to walk around town. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Neillsville, and she was most happy attending church services each Sunday with her sisters.
Eva is lovingly survived by her daughter, Linda (Dennis) Evanson and grandson, Mark (Karen) Evanson, all of Wausau; a son-in-law, Jerry Ehlers and grandsons, Jeff (Barb) Ehlers, Jon (Kim) Ehlers and Joe Ehlers, all of Green Bay, WI.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janice Ehlers; twin sister, Ella Schnabel; and sisters, Olga Northup, Edna Ratsch and Nora Marden; and a brother, Paul Wagner.
