Moberg, Robert (5 June 1931 - 4 Apr. 1944)

Robert Moberg, 12, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moberg, Abbotsford, died Tuesday night, April 4th, at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Marshfield of shock and internal hemorrhage following a gunshot wound suffered three hours earlier.

The lad and several companions had been hunting sparrows in the vacant barn on the McCabe farm near the south limits of Abbotsford when the youth slipped on a ladder, his 12-gauge shotgun discharging during the fall. The gun charge perforated his intestines, vital organs and his spinal column, paralyzing his lower limbs. He died about 9:30 o’clock.

The victim was born June 5th, 1931, in Abbotsford and had been attending the seventh grade in the Abbotsford public school. Surviving are his parents; two sisters, Mrs. Irving Jerabek, Eau Claire, and Carol, at home, and three brothers, Donald and Lloyd Moberg, Milwaukee, Wis., and Clifford Moberg, Santa Monica, Cal.

Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church in Abbotsford, Rev. Francis Brockman officiating, and burial was made in the Abbotsford cemetery.
