Curtiss - June 29, 1944

Arthur Lee Lokken left on Friday to be inducted into the navy and James Mowery on Wednesday for Ft. Sheridan to be inducted in the army.

Jake Johnson, who has been employed in Chicago the past winter, returned home on Saturday for the summer months.

Inzman Gilbertson of Fond du Lac, spent the week-end with his mother, Mrs. Mattie Gilbertson, and sister, Mrs. Martha Harmel.

Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Thieme, whose wedding was an event of June 15th, were honored at a miscellaneous shower at the Cozy Club Curtiss Corners on June 21st.

Miss Ethel Erickson spent the past week-end with relatives in Eau Claire.

Mr. and Mrs. George Hoff visited on Sunday with their daughter, Mrs. Jack McCorrison and family on Sunday.

Mrs. Frank Lupient and daughters, Miss Marion Lupient and Mrs. Alta Sullivan and sons attended the Old Settlers club picnic at Marshfield on Sunday.

Guests at the Ray Kobs home the latter part of the week were his mother, Mrs. Gusta Kobs, Chicago, and brother, Pvt. Nelani Kobs of Camp McArthur, San Pedro, Calif., and Miss Emma Koch, Waukesha.

Dr. and Mrs. Ted Pasguezi of Portland, Ore., visited last week with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Augusta Stacke, and sister and brother in law, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Koerner.

Mrs. Richard Pohl spent the week-end at Manitowoc and attended the confirmation service of her grand daughter on Sunday.

Henry Machlett of Cleveland, Ohio, arrived here on Tuesday to spend his vacation with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Machlett.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Bakke purchased the former Albert Laabs barber shop building and will make their home.

Loraine Kniess of Wausau is visiting this week with her sister, Mrs. Ted Frane and family.

Mrs. Franklin Kraut and daughter, Betty, went to Rochester, Minn., last week where Betty is receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic for a nose injury suffered when she was a small child.

Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Larson and family visited with the latter’s brother, Paul Fricke, and family on Friday evening.

Mr. and Mrs. Laurence Redden and children of Milwaukee are visiting the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Stock, this week.

Marion Frome had her tonsils removed at the Colby Clinic on Tuesday.

Miss Kathryn Peterson and Pvt. Lorrin Peterson, who has just completed the second phase of his naval training at St. Louis, and has a short furlough before reporting for duty at Williamsbury, Va., spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Peterson.

Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Becken of Green Grove, celebrated their silver wedding anniversary on Sunday. Among their dinner guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Mowery and daughter, Martha, and her guest, Miss Ella May Gryant of Orchard, Ia., Mr. and Mrs. Gust Becken and son, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Heibsch and family, Mr. and Mrs. L. F. Hurtgen, Mr. and Mrs. Al Hurtgen of Spring Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Thorval Becken of River Falls, Wis.
