Frome, Marion Louise (Marriage - 12 June 1944)
Miss Marion Louise Frome, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Frome of Colby, Wisconsin, and Gordon Roy Mellenthin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Mellenthin of Unity, exchanged marriage vows Monday afternoon, June 12th, at 3:30 p.m. at the Zion Ev. Lutheran church, Rev. O. Hoffmann reading the marriage ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Miss Lennice Frome, sister of the bride, was maid of honor and the bridesmaids were Lucille Dehn, Shirley Mellenthin, sister of the groom, and Marlyn Mellenthin, the groom’s cousin. The groom was attended by Cpl. Raymond Mellenthin as best man, Glenn Frome, Rudy Dins and Ronald Borchert.
The bride was attired in a becoming dress of lace and net with train, sweetheart neckline, long net veil edged with lace attached to beaded headdress. Her bouquet consisted of white carnations and red roses. The maid of honor and bridesmaids wore identical dresses of blue lace and net with bonnets to match and their colonial bouquets consisted of carnations and sweet peas. The flower bearers, Audrey Krueger and Salvia Jean Luepke, wore white dresses.
A reception was given at the home of the bride’s parents, the home being decorated with white and blue streamers and cut flowers.
The young people spent several days in Northern Wisconsin and will be at home after June 15th at Unity where the groom is engaged in farming.
The bride attended Colby, Wis. High School and the past three years had been employed at the Abbotsford Beauty Shop. The groom attended Unity, Wis. High School.
