Bauer, Regina (Marriage - 25 Nov. 1944)

In a nuptial high mass, at St. Anthony’s Catholic church, in Milwaukee, Wis., on Nov. 25th, Miss Regina Bauer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bauer of Colby, became the bride of S/Sgt. Erwin S. Merkel, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Merkel, of Milwaukee. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

The bridal gown was fashioned of white satin in princess style with train. The bride also wore a finger tip veil caught in a tiara of white plumes. The bride carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums.

The bride’s sister, Miss Bauer, of Milwaukee, attended as maid of honor, and Miss Shirley Neimann of Milwaukee, as bridesmaid. Miss Bauer was gowned in a peach colored georgette with black velvet bodice and sweetheart neckline, and she wore peach colored plumes in her hair. Miss Neimann’s gown was fashioned in the same in blue and she wore blue plumes. The girls both wore pearls, gifts of the bride, and carried chrysanthemums.

Miss Christine Merkel, niece of the groom, was flower girl. She wore a blue taffeta dress and headdress to match and carried a colonial bouquet.

The groom was attended by his brother, Leonard Merkel of Milwaukee, Wis., and the bride’s brother, T/Sgt. Frank Bauer, of Gowen Field, Boise, Idaho.

The reception was held at the home of the bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holman, 3827 S. 5th Place, Milwaukee.

Guests were, Mrs. Fred Malewicki and son, Russel, of Washington, D.C.; Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Bergner and children, James and Mary, of Sturgeon Bay; Mr. and Mrs. William Bauer of Colby; Mr. and Mrs. August Merkel, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Holman and children, Robert and Carol Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Merkel and children, Christine and Kathleen, Miss Martha Weyer, Miss Lavern Yanke, and Miss Clarissa Wolf, all of Milwaukee.

The bride is employed at the Unit Crane and Shovel Corporation of West Allis, and will make her home at 2748 South Delaware Avenue, Milwaukee, Wis.

The groom is a surgical technician at Mithchell Convalescent Hospital, Camp Lockett, California, where he has been stationed since he returned from the Central Pacific two months ago.
