Helen Louise Maxam

Appleton -- Helen Louise Maxam, 82, Appleton, passed away Monday, Feb. 13, 2006, at Rennes Health Center.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday Feb. 17, 2006, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, 1130 W. Marquette, Appleton, with the Rev. Tom Fritz officiating.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of service Friday at the church. Internment will be in Highland Memorial Park.

Helen was born June 15, 1923, in Dorchester to the late Carl and Mary (Lindau) Habeck. She married Percy Maxam on Oct. 28, 1942, in Dorchester, Wis. They moved to Appleton, where Helen worked at Appleton Juvenile Furniture. She later worked at Mary's Restaurant and then finished her working years at Elm Tree Bakery.

Helen loved playing cards, traveling and shopping. She enjoyed baking cookies and family gatherings.

Helen is survived by two sons, Dale Maxam and Dennis Maxam, both of Appleton; five daughters, Donna (Bob) Schnabl, Appleton, Judy (Tom) Peterson of Upson, Joyce (Dan) Berg, Appleton, Jan (John) Hanson, Howards Grove and Connie (Bill) Morgando of Riverside, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Percy Maxam; her sister, Mildred Abegglen; and two brothers, LaVern and Arthur Habeck.

Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N. Richmond Street, Appleton, 920-733-5435, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
