Emma M. Marden

Emma Marden, age 102, of Neillsville, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, at the Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville, Wis.

Emma Minnie Marden was born on May 28, 1903, the daughter of Herman and Emilie (Kreuger) Gehrt in the township of Pine Valley. She attended the Silver Crest School. After her schooling, she moved to Milwaukee to work as a nanny for several years. She married Charles Marden on October 12, 1937. Together they farmed and raised their two daughters in the town of Hewett. They retired and moved to Neillsville in 1968.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty Jane (Leo) Lindner of Eau Claire and Jana Lee (Lowell Gesche) Marden of Neillsville, Wis.

She is further survived by three grandchildren, David (Katharine) Lindner of Neillsville, Dana (Darwin) Balts of Eau Claire and Derek (Sheryl) Lindner of Chippewa Falls; eight great-grandchildren, Courtney (Jason) Rodin, Corey (Bridget Dohms) Balts, Ashley Balts, Rebecca (John Johnson), Stephanie, Jacob, Shannon and Trent Lindner; and two great-great-grandchildren, Kylia and Blake Johnson. She is also survived by nieces, Agnes Hermeling and Luella Mohr; and a nephew, Arvid Berger.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; two brothers; three sisters; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Emma will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 213 Hill St., in Neillsville, Wis. Pastor James Gordon will officiate. Internment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

A time of visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church on Saturday morning before the service.

Serving as casket bearers will be David Lindner, Derek Lindner, Darwin Balts, Jacob Lindner, Corey Balts and Douglas Felix.

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting Emma’s family with arrangements.
