Neuhaus, Gerhard (1857 - 4 July 1944)
Gerhard Neuhaus died of old age complications Tuesday morning, July 4th, at 11:45 at his home in Curtiss at the age of 87 years. Funeral services will be held at the Neuhaus home in Curtiss on Friday afternoon, July 7th, at 1:30 P.M. and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at Curtiss at 2:00 P.M., Rev. D. Grether officiating. Burial will take place in Pine Hill cemetery, Curtiss, Wis.
The deceased was born in Manitowoc county in 1857 and was married to Miss Lucy Ortmeier on Sept. 7, 1881. He had operated a farm most of his life but the past one and one-half years lived in Curtiss, Wis.
Surviving are his widow and 13 children - Mrs. William (Laura) Stoltzman of Cleveland, William Neuhaus of Colby, Henry Neuhaus of Genoa City, Mrs. Ervin (Mary) Oehldrich of Cleveland, Otto Neuhaus of Curtiss, Richard Neuhaus of Genoa City, Mrs. Charles (Alvina) Miller of Abbotsford, Mrs. Amos (Matilda) Miller of Elkhart Lake, Paul Neuhaus of Chicago, Mrs. Ed (Hulda) Strade of Curtiss, Edward Neuhaus of Melrose Park, Ill., Herbert Neuhaus of Colby and Mrs. Walter (Ella) Baumgartner of Colby, Wis. Three children preceded their father in death. Also surviving are 70 grand children and 33 great grand children.
The deceased was a good Christian, honest in all his dealings, and, being of a congenial disposition, was well-liked by all who knew him.

Funeral services for Gerhard Neuhaus, age 87, of Curtiss were held Friday afternoon at the Peace Ev. and Reformed church in Curtiss, Rev. D. Grether officiating, and internment was made in Pine Hill cemetery near Curtiss, Wis. Pall bearers were William Singstock, Oscar Erdmann, Henry Gosse, William Ebert, Theo. Frome and Henry Voightlander. Those in charge of the flowers were Linda Koerner, Mrs. Leroy Kuhn, Mrs. Leonard Kademan, Mrs. Walter Gosse, Florence Miller, Jeanette Strade, Lucille Baumgartner and Ella Neuhaus.
Out of town relatives attending the funeral included Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Hamiester of Elkhart Lake, Oscar Neuhaus of Mill Home, Richard Mauer of Ada, Mrs. Mary Mauer of Newton, Mrs. Albert Neuhaus and Mrs. Anna Grossebuesh of Manitowoc, Mr. and Mrs. William Neuhaus of Neillsville, Mrs. Wm. Stoltzman, and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Schmidt and son, Danny, of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Oehldrich, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Oehldrich, Jr., and daughter, Judy, and Mrs. Walter Gross of Cleveland, Mr. and Mrs. Amos Miller and sons, Arnold and Melvin, and Mrs. Leroy Kuhn of Elkhart Lake, Pfc. Harold Miller of New York, Henry Neuhaus, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Neuhaus and Mrs. Ed. Cammers and daughter, Betty, of Genoa City, Paul Neuhaus of Chicago and Miss Linda Koerner of Milwaukee.
