Stadtmueller, Joseph J. (26 June 1859 - 10 Aug. 1944)

Joseph J. Stadtmueller died at his home in Colby last Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the age of 85 years following a lingering illness. Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic church Monday morning at 9:30 o’clock and internment was made in the Colby cemetery. Rev. L. J. Lang officiated at the Requiem Mass and burial services. Pall bearers were John Weix, Nick Baer, Conrad Niggeman, C. J. Kraus, Edward Feit and E. R. Schultz. Those in charge of the flowers were Audrey Gries, Dolores Firnstahl, Marie Schuh, Jean Blanchard, Joanne Gierl and Mae Beyerl.

Mr. Stadtmueller was born on June 26, 1859, in Oshkosh, Wis., and, when a young man, was employed as a teamster for the Paine Lumber Company. He was married to Anna Lex on May 27th, 1890, at Oshkosh. Nine years later they moved onto a farm near Amherst and in 1908 they moved to this community and lived on farms in the town of Colby and town of Hull, Wis. They retired six years ago and made their home in the city of Colby, Wis.

Surviving besides his widow are two sons, George of Neenah and Arthur of Northfield, Minn.; one brother, Albert of Oshkosh; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Schommer and Mrs. Clara Eger of Oshkosh; and two grand children.

The deceased was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a good Christian, an indulgent husband and father, and was well-known for his industrious and congenial disposition.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Albert Stadtmueller, Mr. and Mrs. John Stadtmueller, Mrs. Mary Bork, Mrs. Mary Schommer, Mr. Oscar Uder and Mrs. Frank Uder, all of Oshkosh, Mrs. Nellie Penny of Waupaca, Mr. and Mrs. George Stadtmueller of Neenah, Arthur Stadtmueller of Northfield, Minn., Mrs. Bertha Majoribanks and Mrs. Elizabeth Kelleher of Chicago, John Lex of New London and Mr. and Mrs. Nick Lex of High Cliff, Wis.
