Witt, Charles F. (21 Feb. 1864 - 21 Aug. 1944)
Funeral services for Charles F. Witt of Unity, age 80, who died on Monday evening at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital after suffering a fractured hip, were held Wednesday at St. Luke’s Lutheran church in the town of Green Grove, Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating, and burial was made at Appleton.
Mr. Witt was born in Meckleburg, Germany, February 21, 1864, and was married in February, 1882, to Caroline Schwamer, who died 38 years ago. He came to America when four years old and after living near Appleton moved to Clark county in 1914.
Surviving are seven children, Edward Witt, Thorp, Charles and Ervin Witt, Unity, Arnold Witt, Gilman, Mrs. Charles Zaska and Mrs. Clarence McClintock, Milwaukee, and Harry Witt, Owen; six sisters and brothers, Fred Witt, Loyal, John Witt, Norfolk, Neb., Mrs. Sophia Scheer, Curtiss, Mrs. Anna Bohl, Appleton, Mrs. Mary Reehl, Black Creek, Outagamie county, and Miss Emma Witt, Milwaukee; 17 grand-children and one great-grandchild.
