Butler, Ruth (Marriage - 2 June 1945)

A double ring ceremony was performed at St. Rose of Lima’s church in Milwaukee at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 2nd, when Ruth Butler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Butler of Colby, Wis., became the bride of S/Sgt. Glenn Korntved, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Korntved of Spencer, Wis., Rev. E. Pfeil officiating. Miss Lucille Becker of Colby, Wis., was maid of honor and Mrs. William Sychosz, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid. The groom was attended by Harry Grodzinksi and William Sychosz.

The bride was attired in a white slipper satin gown with net yoke and trimmed with net ruching at the neck and edge of the leg-o-mutton sleeves. Her three-quarter length veil, edged with satin ribbon, was caught to a beaded crown. She wore a three string strand of pearls, a gift from the groom. Her bouquet consisted of calla lilies and green ferns.

The maid of honor wore a pale blue taffeta gown with net skirt. Her headdress was a shoulder length blue veil caught at the top with matching ruching. Her bouquet consisted of pink roses and blue larkspur and was held with a large blue ribbon.

The bridesmaid wore a pink net gown over taffeta. She wore a pink veil, made the same as the maid of honor’s. Her bouquet consisted of pink roses and sweet peas and white schillea. Both wore a string of pearls. Both the bride’s and the groom’s mother wore a corsage of roses and white Achilles.

At 12:00 o’clock a dinner was served for the families and close friends at Steuben’s Inn.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. John Korntved of Spencer and Mrs. Earl Butler and Miss Lucille Becker of Colby, Wis.

The groom has just returned from combat with the 32nd Division in the Southwest Pacific where he spent the past 37 months. After his furlough, he and his wife will return to Fort Cester, Mich. The bride graduated from Colby, Wis. High School in May, 1940, and has worked for the past three years at the Allis Chalmers defense plant in Milwaukee.
