Sazama, Marie (Marriage - 8 Sept. 1945)
Back from a honeymoon in northern Wisconsin, Mr. and Mrs. Gerhard Umnus, Jr., are now at home to friends on the farm of the bridegroom’s parents in the town of Wien. Mrs. Umnus is the former Miss Marie Sazama, daughter of the John Sazamas, town of Frankfort.
The couple exchanged vows in the rectory of St. Mary’s Catholic church, Colby, September 8th. Following the ceremony, a reception attended by 200 guests was held at the Sazama home. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Bauman and Miss Elsie Umnus, were among the guests. Others were present from Edgar, Fenwood, Stratford, Athens and the town of Wien.
The bride chose for the ceremony a gown of white lace and ninon and a lace-bordered veil, which fell in a train from a seed pearl headdress, and carried white roses and gladioli.
Miss Janet Sazama, cousin of the bride, attending as maid of honor, wore a gown of pink satin with full net skirt, and matching veiled headdress, and the bridesmaids, Miss Almira Umnus, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Catherine Umnus, her cousin, were gowned in pink and blue satin and net, with matching shoulder-length veils. All carried pink roses.
