A pretty wedding took place on Thursday afternoon, July 11, 1940, at the M.E. Church, when Miss Eunice Asselin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Asselin, and Mr. Reo Goetsch, son of Mr. and Mrs. August Goetsch of Wausau, were united in marriage by Rev. James Irish. They were attended by Miss Wilma Behnke as bridesmaid and Mr. Ray Bohl, both of Wausau. Little Leatryce Asselin, cousin of the bride, acted as flower girl. The bride’s dress was of white taffeta, colonial style with tight bodice, sweetheart neck and full skirt with train. Her fingertip veil was held in place by a cluster of orange blossoms. The bridal bouquet consisted of white roses and sweet peas.

The bridesmaid’s dress was of embroidered blue marquisette and she carried pink roses and sweet peas. The flower girl wore a floor length dress of white organdy, in a style similar to the bride’s and she carried a colonial bouquet of mixed flowers. The groom was attired in oxford grey.

The bride entered the church to the strains of Lohengrin’s wedding march, on the arm of her father and was met at the altar by the groom. Two songs were rendered during the services, "O Promise Me" and "Because," sung by three friends from Wausau, with Miss June Wohlleben as accompanist on the piano.

After the ceremony numerous relatives and friends gathered at the home of the bride’s parents for a short reception, after which the immediate wedding party enjoyed a delicious six o’clock dinner at the Hotel Royal in Stanley. The same evening the newlyweds left on a honeymoon trip to Yellowstone Park. The bride wore for her going away outfit a dress of blue sheer in redingote style with large picture hat. On their return they will live in Wausau, where both are employed at the Wis. Public Service Corp., with home address 310 ½ 9th Ave. South.

Out of town guests attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. August Goetsch and the Misses Mae Wagner, Ruth Kohlhoff and Gaywood Breitrick of Wausau, Mrs. Frank Rivers and daughter Colette and Mrs. Alfred Kristenson and daughter Joyce and Miss Virginia Gospador of Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Lauer and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Berg and children of Chippewa Falls.
