Alger, Mildred (6 AUG 1940)

Joseph A. Schmidt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Schmidt of the town of Worden (Clark Co., Wis.), and Miss Mildred Alger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. jay R. Alger, were joined in the holy bonds of matrimony by Rev. A.M. Muckerheide at nuptial high mass at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church here on Tuesday morning, Aug. 6th, 1940, at eight o’clock.

The couple was attended by John Schmidt and Genevieve Alger, sister of the bride, who wore a blue silk crepe dress and carried a bouquet of roses and sweet peas.

The bride was beautifully attired in a gown of silk marquisette over taffeta with a finger tip silk tulle veil held in place with orange blossoms. Her bouquet was of roses and sweet peas.

Mary Ann Gruber of Minneapolis, a nice of the groom, served as flower girl and carried a basket filled with mixed flowers.

Following the ceremony, relatives and friends joined in the reception of the couple which was held at the home of the bride’s parents in the town of Thorp.

The newlyweds left on a trip to the Twin Cities, after which they will be at home to their friends on the groom’s farm west of Thorp.

Those from out of town here to attend the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gruber and daughter, Mary Ann, and Mrs. Martha Schmidt of St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Schmidt and daughter Loretta of Elk Mound, and Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Rafferty of Eau Claire.
