Abbotsford, Wis. - Oct. 4, 1945

Prize winners at the card party given by the V.F.W. Auxiliary Sunday night were Mrs. Alvin Schmitt and H. Voightlander, first; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Bogaard, second; Mrs. C. A. Anderson, general prize. Another hospital program party will be given Sunday evening, October 14th.

The Auxiliary to the V.F.W. will hold a meeting Wednesday evening, Oct. 10th, at the R. N. Hall.

A new V.F.W. Auxiliary to the ninth district was instituted at Neillsville Sunday, Sept. 23. Cities represented were Rice Lake, Eau Claire, Menomonie, Black River Falls and Abbotsford, Wis. Those present from Abbotsford and Colby were Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bitters, Mrs. Art Nagel, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Youmans and Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith.

Elden Viets purchased the former Caulkins house from H. J. Cornelius and will move his family into the same in the near future.

Jack Nikolay left for Madison where he will attend the university.

Pvt. Harold Weber arrived en route from Shepland, Texas, to Nashville, Tenn., to spend until October 6th with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weber.

H. J. Amacher sold his residence to Henry Ortmeier of Colby, Wis. The Amacher family will remain in the house until spring.

The Ed Jolivette farm was sold to John Loughead of Cherokee.

Norman Emling, S 2/C, returned to Great Lakes, Ill., after spending his leave here.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dietsche, Jr., and three daughters of Ladysmith spent a few days here.

H. H. Fiebig and Sgt. Gilbert Fiebig, returned after spending ten days with relatives in Milwaukee and Sheboygan.

Joseph DeNoble of Appleton spent several days at the home of his sister, Mrs. Vern Steffen.

John Brown, who had been employed at the Steffen Super Service, left for Appleton where he has employment.

Mrs. Maxwell Jenks, returned to Abbotsford after spending the summer with friends in Northern Wisconsin and Michigan.

Mrs. Sarah Polzin of Oregon spent the week-end with her father, Harry Demand, and son, Walter.
